While I didnāt discover Mars until a few years later, I was given these postcards from the first album release at Tower Records. This album will always be one of my favorites and Iāll forever be a little devastated I never saw a show on this tour! Wish I had a chance to go back and experience it all!

VISUAL REPRESENTATION: Homemade Merch
So the symbols and glyphs played a large role in uniting the Echelon fan base at the shows.
Shannon: "That first record for me was so important. It was like this is who we areĀ and to go out and experience that with people and show them what we are about is amazing.
Mars loved homemade Mars gear from the early Believers.
Jared: "Love the homemade tee shirts. We didnāt need people to buy our records or tickets. If they came up with a homemade tee shirt we were happy. Itās all we needed. This was a really special time and a special thing and I think that the commitment is undeniable."

The first time that I heard the album was in the house of my best friend š¤š»
It was the first thing of Mars that I had in my life āļø

MARS MEMORIES: SILVIA M.
I first heard of Thirty Seconds to Mars on a TV show about musicians who were also actors. I immediately downloaded the album, fell in love with it, and listened to it for months. I then discovered one of my friends was a fan as well. He even had the glyphs tattooed on his ankle. My first show was a tiny venue in Tempe, AZ. It was amazing. I moved to Albuquerque a few years later and was able to meet them during a meet and greet. I was just in awe and considered myself so lucky. I was able to see them during the Monolith Tour and it was like coming home. I have been and will always be a fan. 20 years have flown by and I am more and more impressed with them with every album release. Canāt wait to see what the next 20 bring.

FIRST TV LIVE PERFORMANCE: 18 NOVEMBER 2002
Mars recorded their first TV performance on the 18th of November whilst on tour with Sevendust in New York. The Last Call with Carson Daly performance aired on the 27th of November.
Q: How big do you wanna get. Itās quite a good place to be in?
Jared: āI was counting on sudden failure and death. But weāre really happy, weāve toured 140 something shows already this year since January 30th and weāve just been having an amazing time making connection with the fans and the people who are interested in what weāre doing.ā
MARS MEMORIES: CLAUDIA
I have been listening to Thirty Seconds to Mars since 2003. I watched the movie "The Core" and I heard a song I completely fell in love with: it was Echelon. I was 12 at that time and I didn't know how to learn more about that band, so I just listened to that song over and over again. In 2007, I saw The Kill music video on TV and I recognized the band's name. I immediately searched for info and listened to both full albums. I loved them and I finally felt like I was part of something, I felt like I was part of the Echelon. I was so fascinated by all the symbology, mystery, sense of community. These songs are so important to me. Echelon still has a big piece of my heart. I have so many beautiful memories, like your first concert ever in Italy in 2007 or Jared singing Echelon after I asked for it during the acoustic set at another show. I can't count how many times I've watched your music videos to try and find the Argus Apocraphex.
Thank you for writing such an amazing album. After 20 years, it's still one of my absolute favorites!
Unity divides, division will unite.
With love,
Claudia from Italy

20 years ago, Mars had their first show in UK at the Camden Barfly in London (previously known as The Monarch). Jared to Kerrang! had said that there were 49 people inside a maximum capacity of 200. And 30 of which were label employees! Jared recalls it was the worst show of his life thinking it would be the last time we played London!!

MARS MEMORIES: KELLY H.
My introduction to 30STM mustāve been sometime in 2003. I was in my significant otherās bedroom at the time and he was playing me some of his favorite music. It was songs from a large range of artists, as he had eclectic taste. I was staring at his lava lamp during the songs, and perked up immediately when he played Buddha For Mary. I was instantly drawn into the song. In high school I was close with a person who was subjected to sexual abuse and this song makes me think of them. Personally, I can relate to the lyrics in that song that speak directly of disassociation. I myself experienced that as a trauma response from growing up in an alcoholic home. My significant other noticed my interest and played Capricorn for me next. I wanted to listen to more so he let me borrow hisĀ CD and within days I had bought my own copy.
Those first two songs had me hooked and Iāve loved your music ever since. Congratulations on your 20 year anniversary! I hope to see you on tour next year and celebrate with you.
Sincerely,
Kelly H.

This was a picture with Jared at the concert in Omaha, Nebraska, at the bowling alley. I donāt remember the year, but it was in 2000 or after. It was called the Ranch Bowl. Itās no longer standing, a Walmart is now on that corner. Crazy how time has changed! Your tickets were 12 bucks back then too!! Itās been great to be a part of you!! 30 Seconds to Mars!!š

MARS MEMORIES: DEENA W.
The first time I saw 30 Seconds to Mars was at the Roxy in Los Angeles, CA. The show was amazing. I have been a fan ever since. I've attended many of their concerts, I attended all Camp Mars andĀ MarsĀ Island events. 20 years later I still have theĀ first t-shirt I bought and I still wear it.

Hello- thank you for the opportunity to talk. My love for the band started about 15 years ago, I fell in love listening to the amazing songs, I love them all, my favorites areĀ The Kill,Ā Capricorn, City of Angels, wow, there are so many. I love it so much. I never managed to go to a concert or buy anything from the band. One day I will, thank you for existing, for being present in my life, you are everything to me. MARS MEMORIES: BRENDI M.
My name is Brendi Mora. My first Thirty Seconds to Mars concert was Aug 31, 2002 at the Lawlor Events Center in Reno, Nevada. They were opening for Incubus. I had never heard their music or heard of them, but after that show, I never stopped following and attended as many shows as I could.
In 2014, I took my then 7 year old son to see the band at the Hollywood Bowl. It was his first concert. He has been to several since and even the sound check/meet and greet in San Diego.
Thirty Seconds to Mars has meant a lot to us. When we have a bad day, we blast the music in the car for a āJared Leto sing alongā. Our favorite songs to get us through a bad time are This is War and Closer to the Edge. We are able to sing these songs at the top of our lungs and feel better at the end.
Forever grateful for TSTM in our lives.
